Pergola prices in 2026, by brand, size and type
At 10×12, a typical fabric canopy pergola kit costs about $410, a manual louvered kit about $1,800 and a cedar or other wood kit about $5,300. Motorized louvered kits usually cost $5,000 to $13,900 at 10×13. The roof and the brand decide most of the price, while going from 10×10 to 12×16 adds only about $1,250 to a typical manual louvered kit.
The price on the tag isn’t always the price, though. Some brands are on sale more often than not.

Here’s what a typical kit of each kind costs at the four most common patio sizes.

The median list price at each size in our Pergola Price Index, so half of kits cost less and half more. Few motorized kits are sold at 10×12 and 12×12, so those figures lean on a handful of premium brands. Motorized pergola cost shows what the motor itself adds.
Two things stand out. A wood kit usually costs more than a manual louvered aluminum one at the same size, though big-box cedar kits such as Backyard Discovery’s start around $1,100 for a 10×10. And size moves the price less than you’d expect: the jump from a canopy to louvers, or from a manual roof to a motor, is far bigger than the jump from one size to the next.

Dealer-installed brands such as StruXure, Azenco and Equinox don’t publish prices; they quote for each project. What a retractable pergola costs
It depends on what retracts. A steel pergola with a fabric canopy that slides back is the cheapest kind of pergola there is, typically $330 at 10×10. A higher-end pergola sold with a retractable shade system, such as Trex’s ShadeFlex, typically costs $9,000 to $9,500 at 12×12.
Louvered roofs that fold away cost more again. Mirador’s hand-operated 111A Origami is about $3,500 at 13×10, and BON’s motorized Grand Retractable starts around $15,000. Every kit is on our retractable pergolas page.
Where you buy changes what you pay
Our prices are what each brand charges on its own site. Many of the same kits also sell at Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Wayfair, sometimes for less, but often under different names and sizes, so check the model number before you compare.
Costco is the one to watch for louvered kits. On 11 October 2026 it listed Mirador’s louvered pergola online at $1,799.99 for 10×13 after $400 off, which is cheaper than more than half the manual louvered kits sold at that size. Lowe’s says the typical pergola in its own range costs $1,552, but its range stops well short of the premium kits.
Is that sale real?
Often it isn’t. PergoLux and Sunjoy list nearly every product against a “compare at” price that implies about a third off, and Backyard Discovery and Paragon run about a fifth off most of the time. A discount that never ends is just the price, so ignore the crossed-out number and compare what you’d actually pay.
