Pergola prices in 2026, by brand, size and type

We split the market at $1,500 and $5,000 on a family’s starting price. The boundaries are ours, set where the product type changes rather than where a brand says its tier begins. Below $1,500 the roof is a canopy, a sail, open cedar slats or the simplest crank louvers; from $1,500 to $5,000 it is manual louvered aluminum or steel and the better wood kits; above $5,000 the roof is usually motorized or the structure is made to order. Of the 85 non-bracket families with a published price, 30 start in the entry tier, 39 in the middle and 16 in the premium tier.

Price per square foot is the figure that lets a small kit and a large one be compared. We computed it for every dimensioned, non-bracket kit variant verified here, 795 of them across 10 brands on 14 September 2026, and the result is below. Not one reaches $120 per square foot. Two-thirds sit below $50. The median is $39.01 per square foot as published, or $26.24 with the PergoLux clearance lines excluded. These are our own computations, and they cover only brands that publish a kit price.

Take 12×14, a mid-size footprint of the kind dealer quotes are written for. Four brands sell it as a kit. Here is every family that publishes that size, with the per-square-foot column on.

Roughly $150–200 per square foot installed is the figure reported for the dealer-installed market — StruXure, Azenco, Equinox and the custom builders — by the three sources closest to that transaction: a cost-data publisher, a StruXure dealer and a competing installer. Footings, electrical, engineering and labor may sit inside such a figure, depending on the dealer and the project, so ask any dealer for the scope in writing. Set against a kit price it looks like the same product at several times the money, and it is not: one market sells a product you or a contractor assemble, the other sells a finished structure. Same footprint, every brand that publishes it. A family that does not sell the size shows “No kit at this size”; those rows are left in deliberately, because knowing that a brand stops at 10×19 is as useful as knowing its price.

Material is a weaker predictor of kit price than roof type: a cedar louvered kit sits with the aluminum louvered kits, not with the cedar open-slat ones. But buyers shop by material, so here is each frame material at its cheapest published size, with a link to the category page that lists every family.

Vinyl: none of the brands verified here sells a vinyl-framed pergola, so there is no vinyl price on this page. Heartland Pergolas is a vinyl brand buyers will come across; we have not completed product-level verification on it.

The roof is the biggest single step in price. A canopy is the cheapest by a wide margin, open cedar slats come next, a manual louvered roof costs roughly double an open-slat one at 12×12 and above (at 10×12 the gap is much smaller), and a motor adds a further step that varies by brand because it usually arrives with lighting and controls. One caution on the canopy rows: at a few hundred dollars they sit alongside everything else and look like the same purchase. A fabric canopy on a light frame is a seasonal shade product, not a structure, and comparing one per square foot with a louvered aluminum roof tells you nothing.

PergoLux replaced Series 3 with Series 4 and is selling the remaining Series 3 stock through a clearance collection. A run-out price is cheaper for a reason unrelated to the market and it will disappear without notice, so it appears once, here, beside the current generation at the same footprint — enough for a buyer who is offered a Series 3 to place what they are being offered.

Some of the best-known pergola brands publish no product price, by design, because they sell an installed structure through dealers. They cannot appear in the tables above and we do not estimate them. What each publishes about its own pricing:

Every price on this page is manufacturer-direct. The same kits also sell through Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Wayfair and Amazon, but no retailer publishes a price we can verify and keep current, so there is no retailer price here and no “cheapest store” table. Three dated observations:

Take the manufacturer-direct price here as the reference, then check the retailer listing for the identical model number and size, not a lookalike, and compare what ships in the box. Several of these brands sell at a permanent discount. PergoLux and Sunjoy list every product against a “compare at” price implying roughly a third off; at Backyard Discovery and Paragon it is around a fifth. A discount that never ends is the price. We also found, live on the day of verification, a Mirador page showing a sale price above its own regular price, and a Purple Leaf listing the same SKU twice at two prices. So no table here shows a percentage off, and every row carries a date and a link to the live page instead.

Prices were verified in mid-September, shortly after Labor Day, with several brands’ promotions still running. We have not measured seasonality; a spring re-verification may look different, and the verified date on each row lets you judge staleness.

A 10×13 row matches a 13×10 listing. Where a brand listed the same product twice at two prices on one page (Purple Leaf, seen live), we took the lower. Where a brand does not state something — frame material, most often — it is left blank rather than guessed, which is why a few families show no material. What we record is the amount charged on the verified date: no retailer prices, no price history, no installed-cost estimates.
