Who runs The Pergola Kit
The Pergola Kit is published in Washington, DC by Anthony Woodland, a web developer who builds data-driven buying resources. He started the site in 2026 to give US pergola buyers a single catalog with consistent, manufacturer-sourced specifications and tracked prices.
Anthony also runs BestKenya, a Kenya travel and dining guide, and works with Cleanport Ventures on Africa-focused ventures, where he co-organized the 2025 U.S.–Somalia Presidential Trade Forum with the Embassy of Somalia in Washington.
Who writes the news
News stories are reported and written by Anthony Woodland, the site’s founder and editor. Price movements are checked against the site’s own price index, and every story links to the product records and sources behind the figures.
What we do
We are not a storefront. We do not sell pergolas, hold stock or take payment. We catalog pergola kits from multiple manufacturers and record what each one is, in a consistent structure, so that products from different brands can be set side by side.
Every product we list is described by the same set of facts:
- price and where it is sold
- size, in feet
- frame material
- roof type, and whether it opens or closes
- how it operates: manual, motorized or fixed
- what is included in the box
- warranty terms
- installation and mounting requirements
Because the structure is the same for every product, you can compare any two kits directly, or browse every kit by size, material or roof type from the pergola catalog.
How we research products
Product facts come from primary sources: the manufacturer’s own product pages, assembly manuals, warranty documents and specification sheets. We do not copy figures from other review sites or retailer listings, and we do not accept specifications supplied by a brand without a published document behind them.
Each product page links to the source we used and shows the date we last checked it. Manufacturers change prices, sizes and warranty terms, so a verification date tells you how current the record is.
How we make recommendations
Our buying guides and comparison verdicts are editorial. They are driven by how well a product fits a given space and budget, what its specifications actually say, and the tradeoffs a buyer is making in choosing it over the alternatives. A pick is explained in terms of those facts, and every pick links to the product record so you can check the reasoning against the numbers.
There is no paid placement. Manufacturers and merchants cannot pay to be included, ranked higher or recommended, and affiliate relationships do not determine which products appear or what we say about them. Our reporting rules and corrections policy are on the editorial standards page.

- Kit prices come from our Pergola Price Index, which records every brand’s list price at each size, and from our catalog for the named kits. Installation, ground, power and permit figures come from third parties, each listed with its source.
- We added the lines up for three real projects because a single national average can’t tell you what your yard will cost. We aren’t an installer, so use these totals to check a local quote, not to replace one.

Motorized Pergola Comparison: Controls and Warranty
- The control, sensor and warranty details here are each brand’s own statements, read on its own pages on 9 October 2026. We have not operated any of these kits, and nothing here is a test result.
- The picks go by fit for the need they name. The tables list kits alphabetically by brand. Affiliate relationships do not change which kits we include or what we say about them.

- Typical prices come from our Pergola Price Index, which records every brand’s list price at each size, before tax and delivery. Brand prices come from our catalog and update as brands change them.

Our standard
Verified dates, honest blanks. If a manufacturer does not publish a specification, the field on our page stays empty. We would rather show you a gap than an estimate, because a guessed figure looks exactly like a real one once it is on the page.
Where we cannot retrieve a figure, we say so. Where a product has been discontinued or its page has disappeared, the record says that too.
How the site makes money
