Hansø Home pergolas

Compare the Pro+, Horizon and Apex by price, size, roof operation, warranty and included features.

Hansø Home, commonly searched as “Hanso pergola”, sells three aluminum louvered pergola kits direct to consumers in the United States: the manual Pro+, the motorized Horizon and the heavier motorized Apex, in two colors, freestanding or wall-mounted at the same price, with every size priced on its own product pages. The warranty runs ten years on the frame, five on the louver mechanisms and one on motors and electrical. Hansø publishes no parts list, builds to order over a lead time it states only in a blog post, and its wind and snow figures are its own; it states it holds no ICC-ES report. Hansø Home pergola kits

Pro+, Horizon and Apex at a glance

Three families, one construction: an aluminum frame with an adjustable louvered roof that opens for sun and closes for shade and rain. The Pro+ is the manual kit, the Horizon is the motorized one, and the Apex is a heavier motorized line that Hansø positions, in its own words, for coastal, open and snow-prone sites. The comparison below uses the specifications and prices we verified for each Hansø family; the table under it holds what the brand states that we have not verified.

Hansø pergola prices

Hansø prices every size and color on its product pages and shows no compare-at figure, so the list price is the price. We read every variant on 13 Sep 2026 and re-checked the brand’s live product data on 14 Sep 2026; the figures matched. First the cheapest size of each family, then all three held at 10×13 ft and at 13×19 ft so the cost of the motor and of the heavier Apex frame is visible at one footprint.

Cross-brand ladders at the same footprints are in pergola prices, and Hansø against its closest rival in PergoLux vs Hansø.

Manual or motorized: Pro+ against Horizon and Apex

The Pro+ is the only manual kit: a hand crank opens and closes the louvers, and Hansø’s own description of it is a kit with no motors and no sensors. The Horizon and Apex are motorized, controlled from a phone app, Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit as published, with a rain sensor sold as an option that closes the roof when it detects rain. The 10×13 table above shows what the motor and controls add at one size; the Apex’s further step is a heavier frame, higher published wind and snow figures, and the three largest footprints, not a different control set.

Two things the motor changes beyond the price. A motorized kit needs an outdoor 120 V supply, which is a separate electrical job unless an outlet is already in place. And on Hansø’s warranty the motor is covered for one year, against five for the manual crank mechanism and ten for the frame, so the part that moves on a Horizon or Apex carries the shortest term. For every motorized kit we have verified, see motorized pergolas.

Sizes

Hansø sells fixed footprints only, no custom dimensions, and the ladder depends on the family. All three sell 10×10, 10×13, 13×13 and 13×19. The Horizon and Apex add 10×19. Only the Apex goes further, to 10×26, 13×23 and 13×26, which makes it the largest fixed-size motorized louvered kit we have verified: 338 sq ft in one rectangle, where most direct-to-consumer kit brands stop at 13×19 or 13×20. Hansø publishes no 12×12 or 12×16, so it does not appear on our 12×12 or 12×16 pages; its sizes are listed as chips further down this page, each opening the catalogue filtered to that size.

Warranty

Hansø’s site headlines a “10-Year Warranty”. The document splits it into three terms, requires registration within 30 days of delivery, excludes labor, and describes the pergolas as a freestanding construction. It is quoted from our record below, with the same terms applying to all three families.

Hansø pergola warranty (as published on the warranty page; applies to the Pro+, Horizon and Apex)

Pergolas (Structural Product) — published warranty highlights: "10-year limited warranty on the main structural frame. 5-year limited warranty on ancillary parts (opening/closing mechanisms). Registration required within 30 days of delivery (email proof of purchase to support@hansohome.com). Non-transferable – applies only to the original purchaser. US only – this warranty applies within the United States. Claim window: Report defects within 30 days of discovery." Exclusions as published: "Acts of God (e.g., heavy snow, hurricanes), improper installation/maintenance, modifications, weight loads on louvers, attachment to buildings, movement of slabs, costs of packing/transport." Electrical cover as published: "Electric motor (motorized models): 5 years (awnings) / 1 year when purchased with pergola as an accessory. Lights, heaters & electrical elements: 1 year." The warranty further excludes "Runoff or water infiltration between the wall and the Pergola in the case of an installation attached to a building", and states: "Our Pergolas are a free-standing construction and should not be attached to the buildings."

As published by Hansø Home. Terms and exclusions are the manufacturer’s. We quote the wording; we do not score it.

NoteRead the document for what it covers and what it asks of you. Motors and electrical on a Horizon or Apex are covered for one year, not ten. Registration by email within 30 days of delivery is a condition of cover. Labor is excluded, so a warranty part replacement means paying to take the structure apart and put it back. Weather damage, including heavy snow, violent winds and hurricanes, is excluded, which sits beside the wind ratings the brand markets. And the freestanding clause, with the exclusion of water infiltration at a building attachment, applies to the wall-mounted option Hansø sells on every family. We have not seen a Hansø statement resolving that either way.

What is included, and what Hansø does not say

Hansø publishes no parts list for any of the three kits, so this page shows none: not the hardware, not the anchoring, not what ships in which crate. That is a gap in the record rather than a statement that the kits arrive incomplete, and the fix is to ask Hansø for the packing list in writing before you order. Two things are clear from the product pages: the motorized kits need a 120 V outdoor supply that is not in the box, and every accessory is priced separately.

  • Sold separately: sun shades, shutters and glass walls for the Horizon and Apex, a rain sensor for the motorized lines, an electric heater, and aluminum slats for the Pro+.
  • Offered at checkout: a paid shipping-protection add-on covering damaged, missing or stolen parts, replaced by Hansø rather than through a carrier claim.
  • Not published: anchoring hardware, footings, assembly service and a manual PDF on the product pages. Other brands we have verified do list these; see the PergoLux Pergola 4 Pro page for what an itemized list looks like.

Returns, cancellation and lead time, as published

Hansø markets a 100-day money-back window. The refund policy sets the conditions, and they change what the window is for: a return must be unused and unassembled in its original packaging, so it is a window to change your mind about a box, not to try a pergola. The lead time is the other term to plan around, and it is published where a buyer would not look.

Published wind and snow claims

Hansø markets weather performance heavily and publishes a different figure for each family. Every figure below is the brand’s own: the testing body is not named, and Hansø states that it does not hold an ICC-ES evaluation report. We have tested nothing and rank on none of it. Read “rated” and “certified” in Hansø’s copy as rated by Hansø, and read them beside the warranty, which excludes damage from heavy snow, violent winds and hurricanes.

Our view

The Pergola Kit’s editorial assessment, reviewed Sep 14, 2026. Not a manufacturer claim.

Strengths

  • Every size and color has a published price, with no compare-at discount to decode.
  • Manual and motorized on shared footprints, and the largest fixed footprints of any motorized kit we have verified: the Apex runs to 13×26.
  • Five years on the louver mechanisms, longer than most kit brands, and app, Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit control published for the motorized lines.

Weaknesses

  • One year on motors and electrical against ten on the frame, labor excluded, non-transferable, and a 30-day registration window.
  • The warranty describes the pergolas as freestanding and excludes building attachment, while a wall-mounted option is sold on every family.
  • No parts list is published; the 10–14 week lead time appears only in a blog post; returns carry a 15% restocking fee and both freight legs.

Questions about Hansø Home

How much does a Hanso pergola cost?

Hansø publishes a price for every size and color, with no compare-at discount, and the tables on this page show them with the date we verified each one. The manual Pro+ is the least expensive line, the motorized Horizon sits above it, and the Apex, the heavier motorized line, is the most expensive, with its largest 13×26 size the highest-priced motorized louvered kit we have verified. Wall-mounted and freestanding are priced the same. The price is the kit; a motorized kit also needs a 120 V outdoor supply, and assembly and anchoring are not published as included.

Which Hansø pergola is manual and which are motorized?

The Pro+ is manual, opened and closed by a hand crank. The Horizon and Apex are motorized, with phone app, Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit control published and a rain sensor sold as an option. The Apex differs from the Horizon in a heavier frame, higher published wind and snow figures and three larger sizes, not in its controls.

What sizes do Hansø pergolas come in?

Fixed footprints only. All three families sell 10×10, 10×13, 13×13 and 13×19; the Horizon and Apex add 10×19; the Apex alone adds 10×26, 13×23 and 13×26. There is no custom-dimension option and no 12×12 or 12×16.

How long is the Hansø warranty, and how long do the pergolas last?

The warranty runs ten years on the structural frame, five on the louver mechanisms and one on motors and electrical, non-transferable, labor excluded, and it must be registered within 30 days of delivery. Hansø publishes no service life; its product pages say the kits are engineered for 30 to 40 years, which is the brand’s own statement, and a warranty term is a promise about defects, not a measured lifespan.

Where are Hansø pergolas made?

Hansø does not publish a manufacturing location. Its site says its manufacturing partners have decades of experience working with metal and pergolas, without naming or locating them, and describes the company as a direct-to-consumer brand that ships factory-direct. We record that as not published.

Can a Hansø pergola be attached to a house?

Hansø sells a wall-mounted option on all three families at the same price as freestanding. Its warranty, though, says the pergolas are a freestanding construction and should not be attached to buildings, and excludes attachment to buildings and water infiltration between a wall and the pergola. Get Hansø’s written position on the wall-mounted kit before ordering one.

What is Hansø’s return policy?

Returns are accepted within 100 days of delivery, but the product must be unused and unassembled in its original packaging, the buyer pays return freight, and Hansø deducts a 15% restocking fee plus the original delivery cost. Orders can be cancelled free only within seven days of purchase; after that the 15% applies even if nothing has shipped.

Is Hanso or PergoLux better?

Neither, in general. PergoLux is cheaper at every matching tier, offers more colors and a custom-dimension line, publishes an inclusion list, and covers the motor for two years. Hansø sells larger fixed footprints, to 13×26, covers the louver mechanism for five years against PergoLux’s two, and publishes an optional rain sensor, but gives one year on the motor, publishes no parts list, and builds to order over 10–14 weeks. PergoLux vs Hansø holds both at the same footprints and quotes both warranty documents.
