Costco pergolas: which to buy and when to wait

The Costco pergola most members should buy is the Mirador louvered aluminum pergola, ideally the 10×13 on sale. It has double-layer aluminum louvers, anchors in the box and a 5-year warranty, and two people typically build it in about four hours. Costco doesn’t install it, and the listing gives no wind rating in miles per hour. Want a motor or a wood look? Look at SunVilla’s battery-powered Stratus or Yardistry instead.

It goes on sale a few times a year, and Costco’s listing names a maker you’ve probably never heard of.

Every pergola Costco sells

Costco sells about a dozen pergolas, almost all of them online only and delivered to your driveway. Most are aluminum with louvers you tilt by hand. Here they are with the price and member rating on 14 October 2026:

Prices and ratings from Costco’s listings, 14 October 2026, delivered price for members. The Mirador prices include a $300 to $500 manufacturer discount running in October 2026.

Two things stand out. The Mirador has far more owner reviews than everything else put together, so you know what you’re getting. And only the Stratus has a motor, which runs on two rechargeable batteries rather than wiring, so you don’t need an outlet.

Our pick: the Mirador louvered pergola

Best for: a first louvered pergola on a concrete patio, bought at a good price.

The Mirador is all aluminum, frame and louvers, so it won’t rust like steel. The louvers are double-layer and tilt from closed to nearly upright with a removable crank, and gutters inside the beams carry rain down the posts. It stands about 8 ft 3 in tall. The box includes anchor bolts and a drill bit for concrete, which some kits leave out, and Costco lists a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

The catch is the paperwork. Costco’s listing describes the wind resistance as “wind force 12” and gives no figure in miles per hour, and no snow load. If your city or HOA asks for a wind rating, get it from Mirador in writing before you order.

Which Mirador is it?

Costco doesn’t say, and its listing names the maker as Zhengte, the Chinese manufacturer behind Mirador. Mirador’s own range has several louvered models, and the Costco version matches its double-layer, all-aluminum 111DA most closely, and Costco’s Taiwan store sells the 8.8×14.4 size under the 111DA name. We can’t confirm the US 10×13 is the same kit, so compare the specs with Mirador’s own page, or call Mirador’s support line, before you treat them as one.

Who should buy something else

Want a motor without an electrician? The SunVilla Stratus is Costco’s only motorized pergola, and its battery power means no outlet. It has few reviews yet, so you’re trading the Mirador’s track record for convenience.

Want a bigger roof than 10×20? The Paragon Lugano goes up to 12×24, and Costco lists it at 82 mph wind and 17 pounds per square foot of snow, more detail than the Mirador listing gives.

Want wood? Yardistry is the wood option, either as an open slatted pergola or as its Wood Room with an aluminum louvered roof.

When the Costco pergola goes on sale

Often enough that it’s worth waiting if you can. Deal posts show the Mirador on sale in spring 2023, May and June 2024, September 2024, April 2026 and again in October 2026, usually $300 to $700 off depending on the size. In October 2026 the 10×13 dropped from $2,199.99 to $1,799.99.

The sales are short, often a few weeks, and the warehouse sometimes runs its own markdown. If you buy at full price and a sale starts soon after, ask Costco about a price adjustment.

What 2,100 owners say

Most love it: of 2,106 ratings, 1,821 are five stars and 72 are one star. In the five-star reviews we read, owners most often praise how sturdy it feels, how it looks and how well the louvers control sun and shade, and about a fifth say it keeps the rain off.

The complaints are mostly about getting it, not living with it. Among the one-star reviews, the two big themes are missing, damaged or wrong parts, usually from the freight, and slow or no replies from customer service. A few owners report leaks at the posts or louvers that sag after a year or more.

Watch out: check every box and part against the parts list the day it arrives, photograph any damage, and report it straight away. Replacement parts take time, and it’s far easier before you’ve started building.

Building it: time, help and anchoring

Plan on two people, two ladders and most of a day. Across 93 owners who gave a time, the typical build took about four hours, with most between three and six; a few spread it over a weekend. The longer 10×20 has six posts and two cranks.

Costco doesn’t assemble it, and delivery stops at the curb, so you carry the boxes to the patio. If you’d rather pay someone, a kit assembler typically charges about $600 to $1,300, as our pergola cost guide shows.

It’s made to bolt to concrete, with the anchors in the box. On a deck, the posts have to be fixed to the deck’s framing or footings, not the boards; pergola over a deck covers the check. Costco’s listing also warns it may need a permit, and at 130 square feet a 10×13 is over the line in cities that draw it at 120, so check yours first.

Costco or buy direct?

Costco’s biggest advantage is its return policy: a satisfaction guarantee with no time limit stated for a pergola, though large freight items go through Costco’s freight return process. On sale, its price is also low for a double-layer aluminum kit; a typical manual louvered 10×13 costs about $2,300 in our Pergola Price Index, and Mirador’s own 111DA at that size is listed higher direct, as the table below shows.

Buying from a brand directly can get you a size or color Costco doesn’t stock, a stated wind rating and the brand’s own support. Here are Mirador’s own models and two other louvered kits at about the same price, for comparison:
