Yardistry gazebos: which to buy, at Costco or direct

For most people, the Yardistry gazebo to buy is the 12×16 Gazebo with Aluminum Roof from Costco. It has about 3,000 Costco member reviews at 4.6 stars, it’s sold only at Costco, and returns are easier than Yardistry’s direct policy of 30 days and a 20% restocking fee. Need a size Costco doesn’t carry? Buy the Meridian direct, which runs from 8×8 to 12×24. Either way, have footings or a slab ready, and several helpers for the roof.

Costco’s 12×14 costs $700 less than the 12×16, and it was out of stock for delivery when we checked, which changes what to buy.

Which Yardistry gazebo to buy

Most people: the Costco 12×16 with aluminum roof

Best for: a family patio that seats six to eight, bought from a store that makes returns easy.

It’s a cedar frame on 6×9-inch engineered posts under a Montana bronze aluminum roof, and it covers about 16 by 12 feet at the roof. Yardistry says it’s sold only through Costco, where it lists at $2,799.99 with about 3,000 member reviews averaging 4.6 stars, more than any other Yardistry we found. That track record is the main reason to pick it: you know what you’re getting, and if something is wrong you can return it to any Costco warehouse.

The catch is the delivery and the parts. It comes in three boxes of 265, 305 and 310 pounds, left at the driveway or curb, and the mounting hardware isn’t included because it depends on what you’re bolting to. Among the low-star reviews on Costco’s 12×14 listing, the common complaints are parts that arrive damaged or drilled wrong, and slow, costly replacements, so open and check every box the day it arrives.

Any other size: the Meridian, direct

Best for: a patio that needs a smaller or longer footprint than 12×16.

The Meridian is Yardistry’s core gazebo, sold direct and through other stores in nine sizes from 8×8 to 12×24. It uses 6×6 posts and a coffee-brown aluminum roof, so it’s a slightly lighter kit, at 815 pounds in the boxes against 880. At the same 12×16 size it costs more direct: Yardistry listed the Meridian 12×16 at $3,359.99 on 20 October 2026. Pick it for the size, not to save money at 12×16. Other sellers listed the same Meridian for far less that day, as low as about $1,750 for the 12×16, so compare before you order.

Who should buy something else

Want a modern flat-roof look? The Contemporary comes in 12×14 and 12×23 and is cheaper at Costco than direct. Want a statement piece for a big yard? The Timber Frame pavilion (16×14) uses heavy timber joinery and costs about twice as much, $5,499.99 at Costco. And if you’re still choosing between brands, our gazebo picks compare Yardistry with the rest, and our Costco gazebo guide covers the other makers Costco sells.

Costco or direct: what each costs

Costco sells a different line from Yardistry’s own store: the “Gazebo with Aluminum Roof” models in 12×10, 12×16, 12×20 and 12×24, plus the Contemporary and a few others that Yardistry sells direct too. Where both sell the same model, Costco was cheaper on the day we checked.

Online prices for members from Costco’s listings on 20 October 2026. Costco prices, sales and stock change often.

Compare that with Yardistry’s own prices: the Contemporary 12×14 is $3,359.99 direct against $2,799.99 at Costco, and the 12×23 is $5,399.99 against $4,299.99. Returns differ too. Yardistry’s own store gives you 30 days to start a return, charges a 20% restocking fee and wants the kit disassembled and re-boxed, while Costco says it will take returns at any of its warehouses. Buying direct makes sense for a size or model Costco doesn’t carry, or for Yardistry’s own assembly service, which it offers in some areas.

The Costco 12×14

Costco lists a 12×14 Gazebo with Aluminum Roof at $2,099.99, rated 4.5 from 521 reviews, and it showed as out of stock for delivery to a Dallas ZIP code on 20 October 2026. Stock depends on your ZIP and the day, so check yours before you plan around it. About 8% of its reviews are one or two stars.

Yardistry sells a 12×14 Wood Gazebo with Aluminum Roof direct at $2,899.99, with a Montana bronze roof on 6×9 posts, and its Meridian 12×14 is $2,499.99. Either costs $400 to $800 more than Costco’s price. If 12×14 is your size and Costco has none, compare those with the Meridian in the table above, or move up to the Costco 12×16 if you have the room. Our 12×14 gazebo page compares every brand at that size.

Will it handle wind, snow and rain?

Yardistry doesn’t publish a wind speed or snow load on its product pages; the Meridian page says only that it’s tested to exceed industry standards. If your city, HOA or insurer needs numbers, ask Yardistry for them in writing for your exact model before you order.

What decides how it does in wind is the anchoring, so bolt every post to concrete footings or a slab. For rain, a few low-star owner reviews describe roof leaks even after a careful build, so take your time on the roof panels and photograph any that arrive bent. Gutter kits are a common add-on, and Costco sells them for $289.99 to $459.99.

Footings, anchoring and permits

Sort the base before the boxes arrive. The kit is designed to bolt to a surface, but the mounting hardware isn’t included, so you need a level concrete slab, poured footings under each post, or a deck framed to carry it, plus anchors that suit that surface. Yardistry’s assembly service lists anchoring as an extra, at $99 to $149.

Costco’s listing says the structure may require a permit, and a roof of about 170 to 195 square feet is a sizeable structure, so check your rules and your HOA before you order. On a deck, the posts must reach the framing, not just the boards; building it over a deck covers the check.

Building it: time and help

Plan a long weekend with several helpers. Every piece comes cut, drilled and stained, with all hardware and an illustrated manual, but owners describe the roof as the hard part, because the panels have to be held in place while they’re bolted together. When a kit arrives with parts drilled wrong or damaged, the build stops until replacements ship.

If you’d rather not, Yardistry offers professional assembly in the continental US, for example $980 on the Meridian 12×16 on 20 October 2026, and its Costco assembly page quotes four to six weeks, or six to twelve in busy markets. Local handymen also assemble these kits; our installation guide covers what to ask.

Living with it: stain, warranty and problems

The wood comes stained, and keeping it protected matters for the warranty. Yardistry covers defects for one year and the lumber against rot and decay for five, but regular maintenance is a condition. It excludes minor twisting, warping and checking, and damage from wind, storms and excessive water, and covers residential use only.

Owners who rate it low mostly cite damaged or wrongly drilled parts, slow replacements and shipping charges on them, and some report roof leaks. Watch out: the warranty covers the original registered owner only. Register it, and check every part against the manual the day it arrives, before you start building.

Add-ons worth buying

Three add-ons are worth considering, all sold at Costco: a mosquito mesh kit ($249.99 to $599.99 by size), gutters ($289.99 to $459.99) and a privacy wall ($749.99 to $949.99). Buy ones made for your exact model and size.
