Costco gazebos: which to buy and what to expect

Most Costco members should buy the Yardistry 12×16 gazebo at $2,799.99. It has the highest rating of Costco’s big gazebos, 4.6 stars from 3,009 reviews, the smallest share of one- and two-star reviews, and a 5-year warranty on the wood. To spend $800 less, the Sojag Messina 12×16 costs $1,999.99 and includes mosquito netting. Every kit arrives in boxes at your curb, and none is a quick build.

Owners of every gazebo Costco sells report the same first problem, and it shows up on delivery day, before anyone picks up a drill.

Which Costco gazebo to buy

Costco sells gazebos from four makers: Yardistry, Sojag, Sunjoy and Paragon. All of them are hardtops with a permanent roof, almost all are sold online only, and the choice mostly comes down to wood or metal and what you want to spend.

Yardistry 12×16: the pick for most members

Best for: a first permanent gazebo on a patio or deck, for someone who wants a real wood frame and has help for a long build.

Of the big sellers, the Yardistry 12×16 has the best rating, 4.6 from 3,009 reviews, and the smallest share of bad ones: 135 reviews, about 1 in 22, are one or two stars. It has a wood frame with an aluminum roof, a roof of 12 ft 1 in by 16 ft 1 in, and a 5-year limited warranty on the wooden parts. It ships in three boxes that weigh 880 pounds in all.

The catch is the build and the wood. Among the low-star reviews we read, about 4 in 10 were about missing, damaged or wrong parts, and about a quarter said boards cracked or warped within weeks or months. Owners describe the roof as the hard part, with four or five people on ladders. Yardistry also advises a yearly coat of sealant.

Watch out: Yardistry’s listing doesn’t mention anchoring hardware, so plan on buying your own for the surface you’re building on.

Not the 12×16? The same Yardistry gazebo comes in 12×10, 12×20 and 12×24, and the size table below has the prices.

Sojag Messina 12×16: the cheaper, no-wood choice

Best for: the lowest price for a 12×16 roof, and anyone who doesn’t want wood to seal and watch.

The Messina has an aluminum frame, a galvanized steel roof with a cupola, and mosquito netting in the box, which Yardistry sells separately. It’s rated 4.4 from 4,205 reviews, and it costs $800 less than the Yardistry at the same roof size.

It isn’t higher because bad reviews run about twice as common, 359 of 4,205, and most of those we read were about parts: wrong roof panels, crushed supports, dents. Several owners waited weeks for replacements. The listing says to expect about six hours with two or three people, and owners who built it report 10 to 18. A few found rust bubbles on arrival, and the listing says anchoring hardware isn’t included.

Who should buy something else

Want an aluminum frame at 12×14? The Sunjoy Fenwick costs $2,599.99 and has a skylight panel in the roof, but 33 of its 312 reviews are one or two stars, and about three in four of those we read were about wrong or missing parts. Sunjoy’s own page states the roof carries up to 4,500 pounds of snow, a figure Costco’s listing leaves out. Our Fenwick page lists its sizes.

Want a hexagon? The Sunjoy Ashland is $1,799.99 with $700 off, in 14.6 ft or 18 ft sizes, and its 4.5 rating is good. In four of the ten low-star reviews, roof panels bent or rattled in gusts over about 20 mph, so it suits sheltered yards. Our Ashland page lists its sizes.

The Paragon Santa Monica costs $2,199.99 at 12×16 and carries a 5-year warranty, but its roof panels are an aluminum composite that about 4 in 10 of the low-star reviews call flimsy, peeling or warped. Panels lifting in storms came up in several. We’d pick one of the others.

Delivered prices for members from Costco’s listings, 20 October 2026. The Yardistry 12×14 range is the Split Roof, which includes $600 off, and the Contemporary. A plain 12×14 Yardistry shows up in Costco’s related-items panel at $2,099.99 but not in its online gazebo search, so ask your warehouse. “Out of stock” was for delivery to one Texas zip code and changes often.

Costco also lists a few specialties. The Yardistry Cantina bar gazebo is 7.6×7.6 for $1,999.99, the Yardistry Contemporary 12×23 is $4,299.99, and the Timber Frame gazebos and pavilions run $5,499.99 to $5,899.99. Sunjoy adds a 12×16 Cape Blue hardtop screenhouse at $3,699.99 and the Wilmington at 13.3×14.8 for $2,999.99. Pick by roof size first: at 12×16 the spread is $800 from cheapest to dearest, and at 12×20 it is $500.

If your yard is smaller, our 10×12 gazebo page covers that size across makers. For the sizes people ask about most, we also have the 12×16 and 12×20 pages.

When Costco gazebos go on sale

Often, and by a lot. In October 2026 the Sunjoy Ashland dropped $700, from $2,499.99 to $1,799.99, with the discount running through 24 October, and the Yardistry Split Roof sat at $2,399.99 after $600 off. In May 2026 the 12×24 Yardistry was $1,000 off its $4,699 price until the end of that month.

Costco also stacks a second saving on Costco Direct gazebos. Buy two or more Costco Direct items on one order and take $100 to $400 off, which was running through 29 October on the Yardistry and Sojag listings. The discounts end after a few weeks, so if a gazebo is on your list, check the price again before you order. If you pay full price and a sale starts soon after, ask Costco about a price adjustment.

Building it: people, time and anchoring

Costco delivers the boxes only. The Yardistry and Sojag listings say delivery stops at the driveway or curb, and none of them includes assembly. The Fenwick comes to the curb as well, while the Ashland, Wilmington and Paragon kits come to your front door or garage.

Plan on a long weekend with three or four people and two ladders, and more for a 12×20. Sojag says about six hours with two or three people, and Paragon says five to seven hours with two. Owners report longer: 10 to 18 hours for the Sojag, three people and 10 or more hours for the Paragon, and for the Yardistry anything from two days with three carpenters to most of a week. The roof is where most of that time goes.

If you hire it out, owners quote $700 to $5,000 to assemble a gazebo, one of them $2,000 for a Sojag and another nearly as much as the gazebo itself. Ask whether the installer will swap a cracked or damaged part, because replacement parts take weeks to arrive and owners say installers charge extra to fit them.

Anchoring is on you. Sojag’s listing says its anchoring hardware is not included, Yardistry’s doesn’t list any, and Paragon says it supplies hardware for its recommended surfaces. On a deck, the posts must reach the deck’s framing or footings, not just the boards. Costco’s listings also warn that a gazebo may need a permit, and a 12×16 roof covers 192 square feet, which is over the line in many places, so check your rules first. None of the listings gives a wind or snow rating. If your city asks for one, get it from the maker in writing before you order.

What owners report

Most owners are happy: every kit below is rated 4.2 or higher. The unhappy ones are a small group, and they say the same things across makers.

Ratings from Costco’s listings, 20 October 2026. The Yardistry and Paragon reviews are shared across their sizes. We read all the low-star text reviews for the three Sunjoy models and the newest 60 or so for each of the other three.

Parts come first. About 4 in 10 of the Yardistry low-star reviews we read, and a majority of the Sojag and Fenwick ones, describe parts that were missing, damaged or the wrong ones: hardware bags that looked used, wrong-size posts, crushed supports. Replacements took one to six weeks, and in the worst cases more than two months.

Getting help is the second problem. Owners of the Sojag and Sunjoy kits say there is no direct phone line to the maker, so everything goes through Costco’s customer service, which passes it on. Delivery is the third. Several owners describe the freight carrier rescheduling, pallets left in the driveway, and one Fenwick buyer was told the refund had to wait until the carrier collected the return.

Then the materials. For the Yardistry it’s cracking and warping wood, for the Sojag some rust bubbles, for the Wilmington peeling paint, and for the Paragon roof panels that owners call plastic-like and say lift off in storms.

Most of the low-star reviews are two to six years old, but the same complaints show up in reviews from the past year, so this isn’t a bad batch that has passed. Watch out: open every box the day it arrives, check each part against the list, photograph any damage and report it the same day. Once the boxes are opened and half a gazebo is up, a return is hard.

Netting, curtains and gutters

The Sojag Messina includes mosquito netting and a double track for netting and curtains. For the Yardistry, Costco sells a mosquito mesh kit for $249.99 to $599.99, depending on size, and a privacy wall for $749.99 to $949.99. It also sells a rain gutter kit for the Contemporary 12×14 for $389.99 and bar counters for $369.99 to $599.99.

If you plan to enclose the gazebo, add the kit to the price before you compare. For the Yardistry the mesh kit widens its gap over the Messina, which already includes netting.

Costco or buy direct?

Costco’s edge is the return policy, a satisfaction guarantee on merchandise, with returns accepted at any warehouse. In practice a gazebo is freight, so a return goes through a carrier pickup, and owners say it works best before anything is opened. Sunjoy also lists its Costco Exclusive Fenwick and Ashland on its own site, and the table shows what it charges. A Santa Monica of the same name direct from Paragon runs $550 to $750 higher at 12×16 and 12×20 than Costco’s listing:

Costco gazebo models sold direct, for comparison
ProductSizeRoofPrice
Sunjoy Fenwick 12×14 (direct)12×14 ftHardtop$2,599.99
Sunjoy Ashland 14.6×14.6 (direct)14.6×14.6 ftHardtop$2,499
Paragon Santa Monica 12×16 (direct)12×16 ftHardtop$2,749.99
Paragon Santa Monica 12×20 (direct)12×20 ftHardtop$3,749.99

Brand list prices, before tax, delivery and installation. Brands often run promotions, so check the live price before you order.

Buying direct gets you a size or finish Costco doesn’t stock, and Sunjoy’s own page gives specifications such as the Fenwick’s snow rating. Comparing makers beyond Costco? Questions

Does Costco sell gazebos?

Yes, from Yardistry, Sojag, Sunjoy and Paragon, mostly online only. All are hardtop gazebos, from about $1,600 for a small Paragon to $5,899.99 for a Yardistry timber frame. See every size and price.

Does Costco install gazebos?

No. The listings say delivery only, to your driveway, curb or front door, and do not include assembly. Plan on a long weekend with three or four people, or an installer, as covered in building it.

How much is the Costco 12×16 gazebo?

The Yardistry 12×16 is $2,799.99, the Paragon Santa Monica 12×16 is $2,199.99 and the Sojag Messina 12×16 is $1,999.99, on 20 October 2026.

Which Costco gazebo is best?

For most members, the Yardistry 12×16. It has the highest rating and the fewest bad reviews of the big sellers. The Sojag Messina is the cheaper choice with no wood to seal. See which to buy.

Can you return a Costco gazebo?

Yes. Costco’s policy is a satisfaction guarantee, but a gazebo is freight, so returns go through a carrier pickup. Owners say it is hard once the boxes are opened, so check every part on delivery.

Do I need a permit for a Costco gazebo?

Maybe. Costco’s listings warn that it may need a permit, and a 12×16 roof covers 192 square feet, which is over the exemption line in many cities. Check your rules before you order.
