PergoLux vs StruXure: which louvered pergola should you buy?

PergoLux is a direct-to-consumer kit brand: you buy from the brand itself, with no dealer in between. Its current US line is Series 4: the manual Pergola 4, the motorized Pergola 4 Pro and the wider-louver Pergola 4 Pro Max. StruXure Outdoor makes custom louvered systems that are sold and installed only through an authorized dealer network, so the party you sign a contract with is the local dealer rather than the brand. Its residential product is Pergola X, with several louver systems (Pivot 6, Pivot 6 Flat, Pivot 6 MAX, Pivot 6 Slide, Pan 6) and a commercial Pergola XL line.

PergoLux lists a price for every size, color and layout on its product pages. Below, the cheapest size of each Series 4 family, then all three held at one 10×13 ft footprint so the cost of the motor and the wider louvers is visible. Series 3 (Standard, Sundream, Skydance) is on clearance and being run out for Series 4, so a Series 3 price is not the brand’s current price and is not used here.

StruXure’s pricing page says price is determined by the footprint, technology and installation requirements of the project, and that the local dealer quotes during a design consultation. So every published figure for a StruXure pergola comes from a party with a commercial interest, named below.

StruXure’s Cabana X, a fixed 10×10 ft modular unit with 17 motorized louvers sold online rather than through the dealer network, is listed by the retailer Patio Pelican at $8,997–$10,497 for the Core and $9,497–$10,997 for the Core+ with LED, with standard shipping included and assembly as a paid upgrade (read 13 Sep 2026). It is a different product from Pergola X, at a fixed footprint, covered by neither the ICC-ES report nor the Pergola X warranty — but it is the one StruXure number a buyer can check without a consultation, and the nearest thing to a like-for-like price against a PergoLux 10×10 kit.

A PergoLux price is the kit at your curb; the inclusion panel above lists what the box does and does not hold. A StruXure quote may include design, permitting assistance, site preparation and installation, depending on the dealer and the project, so ask for permit fees, electrical runs and site preparation to be itemized on it. PergoLux’s seven footprints come in four colors, freestanding or wall-mounted at the same price; a Custom Design Pergola S4 covers non-standard dimensions but publishes no size ladder. PergoLux does not appear on our cross-brand 12×12 or 12×16 pages because it makes neither size.

StruXure Pergola X is designed per project. The published constraint is a largest single zone of 12 ft by 20 ft; larger areas are built as multiple connected zones. Six standard powder-coat colors plus custom colors, attached or freestanding, and a menu of quote-only accessories (cornices, corbels, fan beams, lighting, speakers) are chosen at the design stage. The consequence for a buyer is simple: below roughly 250 sq ft in one rectangle both brands can serve you; above that, StruXure is the only one of these two with a published route.

PergoLux publishes its section sizes: 6063-T5 aluminum with a double-layer powder coat, posts of about 4¾ in, beams of about 6⅞×4¼ in and a pass-through height of about 7 ft 8 in under the beam, per the Pergola 4 Pro product page. The roof is a single double-wall louver design at three levels: manual crank (Pergola 4), motorized with beam-integrated LED and remote, app, Bluetooth and Matter control (4 Pro), and the same with extra-wide louvers and louver-integrated LED (4 Pro Max). The motor manufacturer is not published. Drainage is an integrated slope into what PergoLux calls RainLUX drip-guard gutters.

StruXure describes Pergola X as fully extruded aluminum with an AAMA 2604 textured powder coat, and publishes no post or beam dimensions for the residential line (the commercial XL page lists 6 or 8 in posts and a 2×10 frame). Motorization is Somfy RTS, with an optional Somfy rain sensor and a manual option; the louver systems differ in profile (Pivot 6, Flat, MAX, Slide, Pan 6). Water management is a patented pass-through gutter with an X Guard micromesh gutter guard. One asymmetry: PergoLux publishes its section sizes and not its motor brand, and StruXure publishes its motor brand and not its section sizes.

Both brands market weather performance. We have tested neither and rank on neither: a manufacturer’s wind rating is a claim about a configuration under conditions that are rarely stated. Each claim below carries the qualifier the brand attaches to it.

You order online at the listed price and the kit ships in boxes. PergoLux publishes an assembly estimate of 3–7 hours with two people, using color-coded hardware and pre-assembled roof panels; professional assembly is an add-on through a partner, and the motorized models need a standard 120 V outdoor outlet. Warranty registration is required within six months of delivery.

You start by finding the dealer for your territory on StruXure’s locations page (its location sitemap lists 56 pages). The dealer runs a design consultation, StruXure’s in-house team produces a 3D rendering, the dealer quotes, handles permitting and installs.

Neither brand publishes a lead time, so get one in writing before you pay. With PergoLux the published recourse after delivery is the 100-day risk-free trial, and its conditions matter: the pergola must be fully installed before it can be returned, return shipping is the customer’s, and the period starts ten days after dispatch.

StruXure’s published terms are procedural rather than a return right: the warranty must be registered within 30 days of completing the original installation or it is not enforceable, and every warranty claim must be submitted by your authorized dealer.

Both brands’ headline warranty labels are narrower than their own documents. PergoLux’s “10-year warranty” and StruXure’s “limited lifetime” each describe the frame; on both, the parts that move are covered for a fraction of that term. The wording is the finding, so both documents are quoted below, then set side by side.
