StruXure pergolas

What StruXure makes, how buying one works, what owners say, and who it suits.

StruXure makes motorized aluminum louvered pergolas, mainly the Pergola X, designed and installed by local dealers with no published prices. Published estimates put one at about $150 to $200 a square foot installed, as our StruXure cost guide explains. It suits a large, custom-shaped or attached space where you want one company to design, permit and install it. If a standard size fits your patio, a motorized kit does the same job for far less. What StruXure makes

The main product is the Pergola X, an aluminum frame with a motorized louvered roof that a dealer designs for your space. Its newest version, Evolve, hides the wiring inside the beams, uses joints with no caulk and offers built-in lights; the original is still sold as Pergola X Classic. Either can stand alone or attach to the house.

The roof is where the options are. The standard Pivot 6 louvers rotate up to 155 degrees and come 12 feet long, and Pivot 6 MAX louvers span up to 16 feet. There are also flat double-wall louvers, a version that slides open, and fixed panels. StruXure’s FAQ puts the largest single zone at 12 by 20 feet; bigger spaces join several zones.

A Somfy motor turns the louvers from a remote, an app or Alexa and Google Assistant. Optional sensors close the roof when rain starts and open it when wind reaches 60 mph. Lights, fans, heaters, speakers, screens and glass walls are all add-ons.

The smaller Cabana X is a modular unit that starts at 10×10 and grows in any direction. It is the one StruXure you can find with a listed price, covered in the cost guide.

How buying a StruXure works

You can’t order one online. You find a local dealer, who visits, measures and designs the system, then quotes for it. After you pay a deposit the dealer orders the materials, prepares the footings, arranges the electrical work and builds it, which StruXure says takes about two days per zone. The dealer usually handles the permit and sets any financing.

That means the dealer you pick shapes your experience as much as the product. Lead times vary by dealer, so get the installation date in writing, ask what happens to your deposit if the schedule slips, and read the dealer’s own reviews before you sign.

The warranty, and its conditions

StruXure’s warranty covers the posts, beams, louvers and gutters for 15 years, the motor and controls for five, and the system for life against manufacturing defects. That is far longer than most kits, and it transfers free to the next owner of your house.

Three conditions matter. You must register within 30 days of installation, and claims go through your dealer. From the second year you pay for shipping and for removing and refitting the part. And the motor cover asks you to run the roof fully open and closed at least twice a month.

What owners say

Most StruXure reviews are of dealers rather than the product, and they are mostly positive. On Google, StruXure’s own listing averages 4.3 stars from about 80 reviews, and large dealers such as StruXure of the Rockies score close to 5 from well over 100. Owners praise the look, a roof that closes itself in rain, and tidy, on-time install crews.

The complaints are fewer and fall into two groups. Some owners of large systems report louvers rattling in strong wind, and a few mention drumming or water splashing through the gaps in heavy rain. A smaller number describe trouble with an individual dealer: long delays, a deposit that was hard to recover, or work done without a permit. We found no reports of motor failures, but also few owners writing after more than a year or two.

In snow, StruXure’s own guidance is to keep the louvers open so snow falls through rather than building up, and its care page advises against pressure washing.

What a StruXure costs

StruXure publishes no prices. Published estimates put an installed Pergola X at about $150 to $200 a square foot, roughly $20,000 to $26,000 for a 10×13, before screens, heaters or lights. Our StruXure cost guide breaks it down by size and shows what the extras add.

Kits that do the same job for less

If a standard size fits your patio, a motorized louvered kit gives you the same idea, a roof you open and close at the press of a button, at a listed price you can see today. You or a hired installer put it up, and the warranty is shorter. These are the closest to a StruXure, with app control and ten years on the frame; Hansø’s Apex goes up to 13×26.

The cheapest motorized kit we track is Mirador’s 111S e-Motion, in one 10×13 size. For a side-by-side look at a kit against a StruXure, see PergoLux vs StruXure.

Our view

The Pergola Kit’s editorial assessment, reviewed Oct 12, 2026. Not a manufacturer claim.

Strengths

  • Designed to your space: zones join for large or L-shaped areas, attached or freestanding.
  • A long warranty, 15 years on the frame and louvers, that transfers to the next owner.
  • An independent ICC-ES engineering report, which can make a permit easier.

Weaknesses

  • No published prices: you need a dealer’s site visit to get a number.
  • From the second year you pay labor and shipping on warranty repairs.
  • Everything runs through your local dealer, so the dealer matters as much as the product.

Questions about StruXure

Is StruXure worth it?

Yes, if you need a large or custom-shaped roof, want it attached to the house with engineering for the permit, or want one company to handle everything with a warranty that passes to the next owner. If a standard size fits, a motorized kit costs a fraction as much.

Who owns StruXure?

James Hardie, the building-products company. It bought StruXure’s parent, AZEK, in July 2025; AZEK had bought StruXure at the end of 2021. StruXure is based in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Where are StruXure pergolas made?

In the United States, according to StruXure, which is based in Dahlonega, Georgia. Each system is then designed and installed by a local dealer.

How long does a StruXure pergola last?

StruXure warrants the system for life against manufacturing defects, the frame and louvers for 15 years and the motor for five. Few owners have written about theirs after many years, so the warranty is the best guide for now.

Can a StruXure handle snow?

Yes, if you keep the louvers open, which is StruXure’s own advice, so snow falls through instead of piling up. Ask your dealer for the snow load your design is rated for where you live.

Can you buy a StruXure online?

Not the Pergola X, which is sold and installed only through dealers. The smaller Cabana X is sold through dealers too, though some online sellers list it with a price.
