Pergola news this week: Pergolux's older 10×10 is $919 under the new Pro

Hansø's 30% sale and Pergolux's sale both end early Tuesday, and Polywood has launched a pergola collection.

Pergolux's pergola sale puts its older Sundream S3 10×10 motorized pergola at $4,274, $919 less than the newer Pergola 4 Pro, according to The Pergola Kit's comparison of Pergolux's prices. Its "50% off" tag is measured from a list price above the newer model's, so against the Pro the saving is about 18%.

Bar chart of Pergolux 10-by-10-foot motorized pergola sale prices: the older Sundream S3 at $4,274 against a regular $8,549, and the newer Pergola 4 Pro at $5,193 against a regular $7,990, a gap of $919

Pergolux's older motorized pergola now costs less than its newer version

As of Oct. 16, Pergolux's own pages describe the S3 as a motorized aluminum louvered pergola with a 10-year warranty, rated for winds up to 165 mph, like the Pergola 4 Pro. What you give up is Pergolux's list of Series 4 upgrades: a click-in roof it says cuts roof assembly time by up to 75%, and more accessory rails.

The "50% off" comes from the S3's $8,549 regular price. A fairer yardstick: it is $855 under the S3's September sale price. If price matters more to you than a faster roof build and extra rails, the S3 is the one to look at.

The S3 is on the same countdown as the Pro (see the deadlines below), and only the freestanding 10×10 S3 is in stock; the wall-mounted one is not.

Monday is the last full day for two pergola sales

Here is when the sales we have covered end. Monday, Oct. 19 is the last full day for two of them:

Polywood, the outdoor-furniture maker, is expanding into pergolas

Polywood announced its Westgrove pergola collection on Oct. 15: HDPE plastic lumber pergolas in 8×12 for $8,999 and 12×12 for $9,999, with a 20-year lumber warranty, Polywood says. Its CEO called pergolas "a natural next step." The open roof of spaced beams gives what Polywood calls dappled shade, and the company says the 8×12 offers 46 square feet for gatherings, under half its 8-by-12-foot footprint.

It suits someone who wants a wood look without staining; Polywood says it cleans with soap and water. Skip it if you want rain cover or a kit inside the usual $1,500 to $8,000 budget. It needs a solid base, not grass or soil, Polywood highly recommends professional installation, and returns cost a 25% restocking fee plus return shipping. Permanent structures may also need a permit, so check your local rules.

Two offers are over: Toja Grid's 20% sale and Paragon's cart code

Toja Grid's 20% sale, posted to end Oct. 12, is over, and its 4×4 Any Size kit is back to $630 from $504 during the sale. Paragon's BMSM26 code, worth 10% to 20% off carts of $5,000 or more, expired Oct. 13.

Neither home page is advertising a new offer, so check the price on the product page before you plan around a sale you remember. The Toja Grid kit page has current sizes and prices.
