Pergolux sale is back: don't pay $7,990 for the Pergola 4 Pro

How it compares

Here are two other motorized louvered 10×10 pergolas with LED lighting, on their makers' own sites and before tax:

• Bon Pergola Villa (motorized louvers, LED edge lighting, per Bon): $5,280
• Hansø Horizon (app and voice-controlled louvers, built-in LED lighting, per Hansø): $7,488

That puts the Pergolux about $90 under the Bon and well under the Hansø. At full price, it would cost more than either.

What you get

Pergolux says the Pergola 4 Pro is an aluminum pergola whose roof slats you tilt open or close with a remote or an app, with dimmable LED lights in the beams. It suits someone who wants adjustable shade and weather protection without a crank and has, or will add, an outdoor outlet: Pergolux says it needs a standard 120-volt one.

How long you have, and the catch

Pergolux's site counts down to Oct. 20.

The catch: two larger Pro sizes, the 13×13 and 10×19, cost $700 and $800 more than their September sale prices, though still less than regular. Prices are before tax (Pergolux says shipping is free), Pergolux doesn't include the foundation or anchoring bolts, and nobody can say whether another sale will follow.

Should you buy now?

If the Pergola 4 Pro is on your list and fits your budget, this is the price to buy at, before Oct. 20. If you miss it, don't pay full price: the same sale price came back within about four weeks last time. That isn't guaranteed, though. Paragon's Grand Tuscan 10×12 went from a $1,799.99 September sale back to $2,999.99 regular, and it's still there.

See the Pergola 4 Pro, compare it with the Bon Villa, or check typical prices in the Pergola Price Index.

How we got this: we compared each store's public prices on Sept. 13 (from a saved copy of each store's product list), Sept. 24 and 25 (our Price Index capture) and Oct. 11, when we also checked Bon's and Hansø's prices. Methodology.
