8×10 gazebos
For most patios, buy Domi’s Classic hardtop: about $770 at 8×10, with curtains and netting in the box and a five-year warranty on the roof and frame. The other freestanding hardtops cost about $1,100 and up, and few makers publish the floor space under them. An 8×10 suits a small round table or a loveseat and a chair, not a dining set.
The first choice at 8×10 is whether you have a house wall to build against, because lean-tos cost less than most freestanding kits.

Which one to buy
Domi Classic hardtop
Best for: a first permanent gazebo on a small patio. At about $770 it costs well under the Purple Leaf hardtops at this size, and curtains and netting come in the box. Domi warrants the roof and frame for five years and the curtains and netting for one. The catch: the warranty excludes weather damage, and once the boxes are open a return needs Domi’s approval and costs 20% of the price plus shipping. Owners who are unhappy mostly report missing or damaged parts and slow replies from support. Why there is only one pick: the other freestanding 8×10 hardtops cost about $350 more and publish no more about snow, wind or floor space, so nothing here offers more for the money. Who should buy something else: anyone who wants wood, or who has a house wall to build against. Our Domi review covers what owners say about the build.
Against a wall
A lean-to gives the same 8×10 cover for about $500 to $780, because the house carries one long side. It needs a wall that can hold the roof, and the wall must be higher than the roof edge. Our wall-mounted gazebo page covers the wall, the gutters and the permit questions.

The Purple Leaf hardtops are close to each other in price and in what is in the box, so choose by color and roof style. Domi and Veikous also sell sloping-roof and cedar 8×10s, and stock on those moves, so check the maker’s page before you plan around one.
Many gazebos sold online at 8×10 for $200 to $400 are wall-mounted polycarbonate kits or pop-up canopies. Budget for what isn’t in the box: anchors for your surface, and help with the build.
What fits under 80 square feet
An 8×10 roof covers 80 square feet, 16 more than an 8×8 and 20 fewer than a 10×10. The posts stand inside the roof line, so the floor you can use is smaller each way. Allow about three feet to pull a chair out. That fits a small round table with three or four chairs pulled in close, or a loveseat and a chair, but not a dining set and a lounge group together.
We found no maker that publishes the space between the posts or the height under the beams at 8×10, so measure your furniture against the roof minus a foot or so on each side, and ask the seller for the post-to-post figure before you order. For a table for six, look at 10×12 gazebos.
Wind, snow and the warranty
Published ratings are thin here. Domi’s listing gives a snow load and wind speed for the product in general, not for the 8×10, and the Purple Leaf pages give no figure we could tie to this size. Ask the seller whether a number covers the size you are buying before you rely on it in a snowy place.
Domi’s five years on the roof and frame excludes weather damage. If you get real winters, a steel or aluminum hardtop is the safer choice, and our hardtop gazebo page compares how ratings are measured.
Putting it up
A roof of this size still catches wind, so it must be fixed down: bolt the posts to a concrete slab, or to the joists or blocking under a deck, not just the boards. Gazebo on a deck explains how to check what is under the boards.
Domi says to plan on two or three people. Open every box when it arrives and check the parts against the list while a replacement is easy, because missing parts and slow replacements are the most common complaints about the build.
Four things to check before you order
The permit. Many towns do not ask for one for a small freestanding structure, and some draw the line at 100 square feet, which an 8×10 is under. The line is local, and fixing it to the house can change the answer, so ask your building department and your HOA, or see our permit guide.
Free-standing or wall-mounted. A lean-to needs a strong wall that sits higher than the roof edge, and it changes where the water goes.
The return terms. Domi refunds a return in full only if the boxes are unopened and charges 20% once they are open. Read any seller’s terms before you start building.
Your surface. Slab, deck or pavers each need a different fix, and the base needs to be level.
Questions
How big is an 8×10 gazebo?
The roof covers 80 square feet, 8 feet by 10. The posts stand inside it, so the floor you can use is smaller each way.
How much does an 8×10 gazebo cost?
A freestanding hardtop with curtains and netting costs about $770 for Domi’s Classic and about $1,100 to $1,200 for the Purple Leaf hardtops. Lean-tos that fix to a wall run about $500 to $780. Few kits are sold at this size, so $770 is only a rough middle.
Does an 8×10 gazebo need a permit?
Often not, because many towns exempt small freestanding structures under 100 square feet. The rule is local and changes if you attach it to the house, so check with your building department.
Is an 8×10 gazebo big enough for a table for four?
It fits a small round table with three or four chairs pulled in close, but not much else. For a table for four with room to move, go to a 10×10.
Do 8×10 gazebos come with curtains and netting?
Domi’s Classic and the Purple Leaf hardtops include both. Check the listing for the wall-mounted and sloping-roof kits.
Can I put an 8×10 gazebo on a deck?
Yes, if the deck is strong enough and you fasten the posts into the joists, not just the boards. A wooden deck needs blocking where a post falls between joists.
