Hansø's new Apex sizes: the 12×19 costs the same $21,950 as the bigger 13×19

The 10×16 is the cheapest way into a 16-foot Apex, and Hansø hasn't posted drawings for any of the four new sizes.

Hansø (Hanso Home) announced four new sizes of its Apex pergola on Oct. 15, and the 12×19 costs the same as the 13×19, which by Hansø's own labels is a foot wider. If you are weighing the new Hansø Apex sizes, buy the 12×19 only if a 12-foot width is a hard limit.

The Hansø Apex is now the only Hansø line with a 16-foot side. It is the company's top motorized louvered pergola, and the new sizes come with a Matte Black finish and new Apex accessories.

The four new sizes

Each comes in three finishes (Dark Gray, White and the new Matte Black), freestanding or wall-mounted, at one price per size:

  • 10×16 ft: $15,950
  • 12×16 ft: $18,950
  • 13×16 ft: $19,950
  • 12×19 ft: $21,950

Hansø also added Apex glass walls (from $2,595 for a 10-foot wall), shutter walls and a ceiling fan (from $995).

Hansø Apex new sizes: which one to buy

Apex prices step up in bands, so at some sizes the extra area is free and at others it costs a lot. Use that when you choose:

  • 10×16: the cheapest way into 16 feet, at $1,000 more than the 10×13 for 30 more square feet.
  • 12×16: the same price and about the same area as the older 10×19, so choose by the shape of your patio.
  • 13×16: $1,000 more than the 12×16. Moving up to the 13×19 adds only $2,000 for about 39 more square feet.
  • 12×19: only if 12 feet is your limit.

How it compares

The Apex is far pricier than most kits we cover: it starts at $11,950 for the 10×10. If that is more than you plan to spend, look at Hansø's cheaper Horizon, also motorized, or the Pergolux Pro.

At regular prices, Horizon has no 16-foot size and stops at 13×19, which costs $4,712 less than the Apex 13×19. Pergolux sells the Pro and the Pro Max in 10×16 and 13×16 with free delivery, and at regular prices the Apex sits between them:

  • 10×16: $4,460 above the Pro and $2,040 below the Pro Max.
  • 13×16: $3,460 above the Pro and $4,040 below the Pro Max.

Pergolux's sale, which ends early on Oct. 20, has the Pro 13×16 at $11,545.

Check these before you order

Watch out: Hansø hasn't posted drawings for the four new sizes, and its labels are rounded. Its drawing of the 13×19 measures about 13 ft 1 in by 19 ft 8 in, so get exact dimensions before you order for a tight space.

Hansø says it engineered the new sizes "without cutting a single corner on the wind and snow ratings." It rates the Apex at up to 167 mph of wind and 65 pounds per square foot of snow, and it lists no ratings by size. Shipping is $395 per order and takes 12 to 14 weeks.

Hansø's Apex page says "No contractor. No permits." about putting it together. The new sizes cover 160 to 228 square feet by their labels, and some cities want a permit above 120 square feet (Houston, Los Angeles County) or above 200 (Phoenix). Our pergola permit guide notes that a motor or hard-wired lights almost always need an electrical permit, even where the pergola itself is exempt. Check with your local building department.

Order now or wait

You can order all 12 Apex sizes from Hansø now. Hansø says the Apex is never on sale, but its Early Bird offer takes 10% off until Oct. 27 and ships in early April 2027. Hansø's refund policy lets you cancel free for seven days, then charges at least 15% of the order, which is more than the 10% you would save. Our earlier Early Bird story has the details.

If you need the pergola this winter, order now at the regular price. If April works and you are sure of the size, the Early Bird saves $1,595 on a 10×16.
