Aluminum gazebos
For most patios, buy an aluminum-post hardtop in the $800 to $1,200 range at 10×12, such as Kozyard’s Alexander or Sunjoy’s Kingston. The posts won’t rust, so the real difference between kits is the warranty, which runs from six months to five years. Choose Paragon’s all-aluminum Santa Monica, about $2,000, only if you want no steel anywhere.
The part of an aluminum gazebo that rusts is not the part with aluminum in its name.

Every gazebo kit whose frame is aluminum, alone or with steel, under a hardtop, a fabric canopy or an adjustable roof. Cedar and other timber-post kits are not listed, and neither are steel-only frames; the metal page covers both frames together.
Which aluminum gazebo to buy
Kozyard Alexander. Best for a first aluminum gazebo on a standard patio. Its posts measure 4.7 inches across, thicker than the 3.94 inches on Sunjoy’s Kingston, and it comes with gutters, curtains and netting. Owners rate it 4.4 out of 5 across more than 200 Home Depot reviews, and those who mention problems point to dented parts, a missing bracket and thin netting. The catch is a one-year warranty that leaves out rust, water getting in and storm damage, and a 60 mph wind rating that holds only when it is anchored.
Sunjoy Kingston Aluminum. Best when you need a size other than 10×12. It comes from 10×10 up to 12×20, includes curtains and netting, and Sunjoy publishes the clear space between the posts, which is 10.4 by 8.4 feet on the 10×12. It also weighs only about 225 pounds at that size, so anchor it properly. The catch is that Sunjoy’s warranty period depends on the model and its returns can carry a 15 to 20 percent restocking fee, so confirm both before you open the boxes.
Domi aluminum hardtop with gutters. Best for the longest warranty at around $1,000. Domi covers the roof and frame for five years, longer than any other kit near that price, and the curtains for one year, with 30-day returns. The catch is a 40 mph wind rating unless you set the posts in concrete, and Domi’s Trustpilot reviews mention damaged or missing parts and slow replies.
Paragon Santa Monica. Best if you want aluminum everywhere. The roof is aluminum composite rather than steel, the rating is 65 mph, and the five-year warranty covers the structure and the roof. The catch is price, roughly double the others at 10×12, and an interior that Paragon lists as 9 feet 8 inches by 7 feet 8 inches at 10×12, tighter than the Kingston’s on the same nominal size.

Brand list prices, before tax, delivery and installation. Brands often run promotions, so check the live price before you order. Each row is the cheapest color of that kit at 10×12.
Apart from Paragon, these kits sit within about $500 of each other, so choose by what is in the box and by the warranty rather than by the first number you see. Curtains and netting come with the Domi, Kozyard and Sunjoy kits; the Veikous page lists a zippered net but no curtains, so budget for those. Larger sizes climb quickly: see the 10×10, 12×12, 12×16 and 12×20 pages for prices at those sizes.
How much room you get
A 10×12 label describes the roof, not the floor. Sunjoy lists 10.4 by 8.4 feet between the posts on its 10×12 Kingston, so measure your furniture against that figure rather than the roof. If you need more seating, go up a size; the 10×12 page lists every kit at that size.
Where an aluminum gazebo can still rust
Aluminum doesn’t rust, but most kits here pair aluminum posts with a galvanized steel roof, and steel rusts where its coating is chipped or water sits. That is why Sunjoy’s own FAQ says surface rust that follows a scratched coating is not a defect and is not covered, and why Kozyard’s warranty leaves out rust and water getting into the structure.
In practice, scratch-check the roof panels and the fasteners the day you build it, and touch up chips with matching paint. If you would rather not think about it, polycarbonate-roof kits and Paragon’s aluminum composite roof have no steel panels to chip. The metal gazebo page covers aluminum against all-steel frames.
Will it handle snow and wind?
| Kit | Wind | Snow on the roof |
|---|---|---|
| Paragon Santa Monica | 65 mph | 8 lb per sq ft |
| Kozyard Alexander | 60 mph, when properly anchored | 2,500 lb, when properly anchored |
| Sunjoy Kingston (10×12) | 50 mph | 3,000 lb |
| Domi aluminum hardtop | 40 mph, 60+ mph set in concrete piles | 22 lb per sq ft |
Some makers state snow per square foot and others for the whole roof, so the figures cannot be compared directly.
Aluminum is light, which makes a kit easy to carry and gives it less weight holding it down, so the anchors matter more than the rating. In heavy-snow country, clear the roof after big storms rather than trusting any number on the box.
Warranty and returns
| Maker | How long | What it leaves out |
|---|---|---|
| Paragon | 5 years on structure and roof | Weather damage, assembly mistakes, misuse |
| Domi | 5 years on roof and frame, 1 year on curtains | Weather damage, improper installation, accidents, normal wear |
| Kozyard | 1 year on parts, 90 days on curtains and netting | Rust, water getting in, discoloration, storm damage |
| Sunjoy | Varies by model | Rust after the coating is scratched, extreme weather |
| Veikous | 6 months | The policy page does not say |
The kits look alike, so the warranty is the clearest difference between them. Return rules differ too. Sunjoy, Domi, Kozyard and Veikous all allow 30 days, but Sunjoy can charge a 15 to 20 percent restocking fee, Kozyard charges 20 percent on an opened box, and Veikous makes you pay the return shipping.
What it takes to put one up
Plan on two or three adults and most of a day: owners of the Alexander report about six to seven hours. Sunjoy says stakes hold the kit on soft level ground, but on concrete or a wood deck it recommends proper anchors, and Domi suggests expansion bolts. Because aluminum posts are light, bolt it down whatever the surface.
Dented parts, a missing bracket and thin netting are the problems owners mention most. Open every box, count the parts against the manual, and photograph any damage before you start. Kozyard’s warranty, for one, covers parts and not labor.
Four things to check before you order
The roof. Steel roofs are the norm, while polycarbonate lets daylight through. Decide which you want over your head in July.
What’s in the box. Curtains, netting and gutters come with some kits and cost extra with others.
The surface. You need a level slab or a solid deck you can bolt into, and a rating that matches your area’s storms.
The permit. Many towns have a limit on roofed structures by floor area, so ask your building department before you order.
Questions
Do aluminum gazebos rust?
The aluminum posts don’t. The galvanized steel roof and its screws can, where the coating is chipped or water sits, and some warranties leave that out. Touch up chips early.
Is an aluminum gazebo better than a steel one?
For most patios, yes: it won’t rust and is easy to carry. Steel is heavier and stronger but needs paint touch-ups. The metal gazebo page compares the two.
How much does an aluminum gazebo cost?
About $800 to $1,200 at 10×12 for most hardtops with aluminum posts, and about $2,000 for Paragon’s all-aluminum Santa Monica. Larger sizes cost more.
Can an aluminum gazebo handle snow?
The makers publish ratings from 8 to 22 pounds per square foot, or 2,500 to 3,000 pounds for a whole roof. Clear heavy snow from the roof rather than relying on the number.
Do I need to anchor an aluminum gazebo?
Yes. Aluminum is light, and the wind ratings assume the kit is bolted to a slab or deck. Stakes are fine on level soft ground, but use anchors on concrete or wood.
Is an aluminum gazebo permanent?
A hardtop is. The roof stays up all year, though the curtains and netting come down for storms. See hardtop gazebos for every rigid-roof kit.
